Information you provide

You can browse and listen to radio on Open Air without creating an account.

If you contact us, submit a station correction, inquire about a partnership, or otherwise provide information through Open Air, we may receive information such as your name, email address and the contents of your message.

Our Contact form sends the information you enter to Open Air by email. The application does not keep a separate database of those messages. Copies may remain in the email and hosting systems used to deliver and handle your request.

Information collected when you use Open Air

Like most websites, Open Air and its service providers may automatically receive certain technical information when you visit or interact with the site. This may include your browser or device type, pages requested, IP address, referring pages and technical logs used to operate, secure and improve the service.

Our hosting provider, GoDaddy, adds a website monitoring script to production pages. Hosting and monitoring services may process technical information associated with your visit. Their handling of that information is described in GoDaddy’s Privacy Policy.

Open Air records limited sponsorship and advertising-slot events, such as requests, displays and clicks, with the slot, page type, provider and time. These application event records do not include your name, email address or a listener identifier. Hosting logs may separately record information about the requests.

The Contact page uses a temporary session cookie to protect form submissions. To limit abuse, the server also keeps short-lived submission counters using a keyed code derived from your IP address, rather than storing the raw address in those counters. The counters expire after an hour and expired records are cleared when another submission is processed. Hosting logs are separate from these counters.

Favorites and preferences

You can save a favorite on a station page. Favorites use local browser storage and remain associated with that browser until you remove them or clear the browser’s stored site data. There is no Open Air account or cloud synchronization for favorites.

If we introduce accounts or cloud-synced favorites in the future, we will update this policy to explain how that information is handled.

Radio stations and third-party content

Open Air helps listeners discover and access radio stations from around the world. Station streams, websites, logos and other station information may be provided or hosted by third parties.

When you play a station or access third-party content, your device may connect directly to services operated by that station or another third party. Logos may be requested when a station page loads, before you press play. Those services may receive technical information associated with your request and operate under their own privacy policies.

Open Air does not control the privacy practices of third-party radio stations or other external services.

Advertising

Open Air may display advertising or sponsorships to help support the service. Google advertising is currently disabled, and Open Air does not currently provide an advertising consent panel.

If we enable Google advertising, Google and other participating advertising vendors may use cookies or similar technologies to deliver, measure and personalize ads based on visits to Open Air and other websites, where permitted. We will update this policy and provide applicable advertising choices before activating those features.

How we use information

We may use information collected through Open Air to operate and maintain the service; provide requested features; understand how people use Open Air; improve performance and reliability; respond to messages and station corrections; prevent abuse or security problems; measure sponsorship or advertising activity; and comply with applicable legal obligations.

When information may be shared

We may share information with service providers that help us operate Open Air, such as hosting, infrastructure, email or monitoring providers, when necessary for them to perform those services. Future advertising providers are described in the Advertising section above.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect the security or integrity of Open Air, or in connection with a business transaction involving the service.

We do not sell your personal information for money.

Data retention

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including operating the service, responding to requests, maintaining security and meeting legal obligations.

Favorites remain in your browser until removed or cleared. Contact messages may remain in our email systems, and hosting logs and sponsorship-event records have separate retention arrangements. You can contact us with questions or requests about information associated with you.

Your choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding personal information associated with you.

You can control cookies and stored site data through your browser, including removing local favorites. Blocking the Contact page’s session cookie may prevent the form from working. Open Air does not currently offer advertising consent controls; see Advertising above for our plans before activation.

Children

Open Air is a general-audience service and is not designed specifically for children. We do not knowingly seek to collect personal information from children through the service.

Changes to this policy

Open Air will continue to evolve. We may update this Privacy Policy as our features, technology or legal obligations change. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
